Galiano Health Care Centre Solar and Heat Pump Retrofits

This retrofit project will upgrade the heating, cooling and ventilation of a critical community building. The installation of the heat pumps will reduce the amount of electricity used every year, and the energy costs and carbon footprint will be further reduced by installing solar panels on the roof of the building. The addition of a cooling system will keep the patients and staff comfortable under extreme heat situations. The accessibility of the Centre will also be brought to a higher standard with a retrofit of entrances and rooms that do not currently have wheelchair access. The entire community of Galiano Island, and its thousands of yearly visitors will benefit.
