About Us
Coast Build Consulting Inc. (CoastBuild) has been operating in Coastal BC since 2009. We have completed building envelope and energy assessments for hundreds of buildings, including commercial, multi-family and single-family residences. We have worked with several rural, remote, and Indigenous communities, and deeply enjoy the process of finding creative solutions unique to each location that honour the values and needs of the community.
Our philosophy is to be nimble, integrated, and comprehensive in our approach to supporting our clients. We have the greatest respect for the environment, culture, and time we have on this planet. Our greatest reward is to work with you to find solutions to empower and serve communities to transition to a new social, economic, and environmental model. Our Team

Kuan Jian Foo (he/him)
Kuan has a diverse background in the energy sector ranging from residential energy efficiency projects to complex community building energy management. Kuan also has 12 years of experience in the solar energy sector being one of the founding members of the Vancouver Island worker coop, Viridian Energy. Kuan has also become a trusted energy advisor and developer for the British Columbia and Alberta Co-Operative Associations and has provided consulting services to several developing co-operatives in the renewable energy sector. He is currently working with the Haida Gwaii Renewable Energy Coop. Kuan is a certified NRCAN Energy Advisor for single and multi-family residential buildings.

David Croft, P.Eng (he/him)
Dave is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC). He has a background working as a carpenter and studied Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Dave has a Masters of Engineering degree from BCIT where he worked on software to simulate building energy physics and store expert knowledge about building envelope assemblies.

Jodie Hon, P.Eng (she/they)
Jodie is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and experienced Project Manager with a specialization in low carbon energy and community development. She has worked on the design and construction of multiple district energy systems utilizing technologies such as geo-exchange, waste heat recovery, and electric boilers. In addition, Jodie also has experience in training workers and communities in climate mitigation and adaptation with a focus on empowering and enabling those who have been historically underrepresented.
In addition to our core team members, we have a team of trusted support consultants and contractors to be able to deliver multiple areas of expertise and increase capacity as needed to deliver your projects in a timely manner.
